Be yourself and don’t wait for approval.
I thought my admissions stress was going to be over after this year. I guess not. I guess I’ll be studying for my GRE this summer.
How to create your perfect personal affirmations
How to create your own perfect personal affirmation:
1. Select a personal negative belief.
what are your insecurities? What does your inner critic say? What do you want to change? what are you embarrassed about?
Ex: “I’m shit at my job”. “I’m ugly”. “I’m not very confident”. “Men treat me like shit”. “I can’t articulate”. Nobody likes me".
2. Write the belief down.
write your negative belief down on a piece of paper, or on your computer. It’s time to delete this thought from you head and replace it with a fresh, empowered new thought.
3. The opposite=the affirmation
Directly under your negative belief, write out the positive opposite. You will feel like it’s untrue and you simply won’t believe the statement. This is a GOOD sign.
Examples:
Negative: “men treat me like shit”.
Positive: “men treat me like a goddess”Negative: “I’m not very confident
Positive: “I’m really confidentNegative: "I can’t articulate”
Positive: “I speak with clarity and confidence”Negative: “my thighs are disgusting”
Positive: “My thighs are beautiful”.4. Repeat, repeat, repeat
A belief is a thought that you have decided to think often- so much infact, that it has been set on auto-pilot. Make your new affirmation a thought you think often, to turn it into a shiny new automatic belief.
TIPS:
- Leave the negatives: When writing an affirmation, leave out words like can’t, don’t, not, doesn’t. Strive for the most positive and opposite statement to your current negative belief.
- Bad vs Good:
- A negative belief: “I hate myself"
- A bad affirmation: I will not hate myself”
- A good affirmation: “I love myself”
- A gentle start: If you find the affirmation really hard to believe start with “I am open to…” or “I am willing to believe I could..eg. "I am open to loving myself more”, “I am open to believing I can attract my perfect job”.
- Reminders: set lots of reminds to affirm your new belief. Write it on sticky notes, on your hand, in your wallet, set an alarm on your phone, set it as your digital wallpaper- flood your mind!
